Holden Beach is a great place for destination weddings. Holden Beach has always been known as “Family Beach” a quiet, sleepy little beach town with no high rises, no commercial hotel chains, just nice homes on a small island (appox 9 miles long) along the Atlantic Ocean. Many families have met here and had their summer week of vacation together here for years. We are starting to see lots of couples decide to get married, surrounded by their families, right on the same beach they have vacationed at year after year.
When cost is a factor, (and in this economy, when is cost not a factor) getting married at the beach is certainly something to consider. The beach is free, your family is here, you just need someone to officiate the ceremony!
I do lots of weddings of every variety on the sands of Holden Beach. Some couples elope to Holden Beach for a private ceremony and a week in the sun.
Many bridal couples come to the beach to marry with a few close friends and family members in attendance.
And, occasionally we have the couple who rents 100 beach houses and a huge brass band!
